Fibromyalgia - There is help!

Fibromyalgia is a connective tissue disorder that can affect the immune system. It is a condition where there is widespread pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons, and bones accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory dysfunction and mood issues. It is believed that fibromyalgia is a result of improper processing of pain signals in the brain. It is unknown what causes fibromyalgia but some common triggers for a flare up can be anything from physical trauma, infections to emotional stress. Fibromyalgia is a condition that decreases the quality of life dramatically to the point of becoming dysfunctional individuals.

Symptoms that normal medication tries to treat range from chronic muscular pain, muscular spasms or tightness, tender spots, joint stiffness, insomnia, debilitating fatigue, decreased energy, foggy head or cognitive debility such as difficult concentration, memory loss and difficulty performing simple tasks. Other symptoms can be abdominal pains with bloating and nausea, constipation alternating with diarrhea, migraine headaches, sensitivity to odors, noise, bright lights and certain foods. There can also be numbness and tingling in the extremities, irritable bowels syndrome and systemic swelling. The thyroids are also affected by this disease. Emotionally, there can be anxiety and depression. Symptoms can get worse due to stress, exercise, hormonal fluctuations, time of day, or drafts, environmental factors and even diet.

The symptoms of fibromyalgia resemble very much the symptoms seen in rickets when there is a lack of vitamins and minerals: bone pain or tenderness, decreased muscle tone, progressive weakness and muscle cramps. Often times a lack of nutrients can be a sign of parasites or bacteria within the body.

When a person is infected with parasites, they can have nighttime restlessness, bloating, weariness, constant hunger and emaciation, increased allergies and headaches, fuzzy thinking, arthritis and immune system problems - symptoms that resemble very much the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

One particular parasite that has plagued mankind is the Rickettsiosis bacteria which was the cause of the typhus epidemic. Some symptoms of typhus are fever, debility and weakness, apathy, delirium or an inability to think or comprehend, heaviness and pain in head, muscle soreness and aching, rashes. Often these bacteria can go dormant until a trigger reactivates them such as stress and emotional upheavals.

The bacterias and parasites are often carried around by birds, rats, mice and by ticks and fleas found on animals. We often try to protect from the environmental factors, but how often do we protect ourselves from the same ticks and fleas that affect our pets that may be inadvertantly affecting us?

A Belgian physician, Cecile Jadin, with the help of blood tests on ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) patients argues that the symptoms displayed by CFS (chronic fatigue syndrom)/ME , fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and even neurological patients as MS, show the same diversity of symptoms as rickettsial patients - patients are infected with parasites.

When we consider these factors, we should seriously consider parasitic and microbial infections as one predominant causation factor of fibromyalgia.

Often parasitic and microbial infections are the last thing that is considered so it is important that if there are unexplained reasons for the pains you feel, to try to get a stool test done to check for parasites (and worms) and have blood tests done to check for micro-organisms that should not be there.

It's been recommended to increase the intake of vitamin B's and acidophilus (found in probiotics) to better the digestive process to bring in more nutrients that the parasites and microbes may be taking away from the body to elevate energy levels and it is also important to treat the parasites as well as the muscular and mental symptoms as well.

In Homeopathy, there are remedies that can work on the fibromyalgia symptoms as well as treat the parasitic infection such as Bapt, Cupr, Caust, Ignis, Phyt, Stict, Uro-h and others that can be used under the guidance of a Homeopath. Other remedies that can help with fibromyalgia are Cimicifuga, Galeo-c, Cuc-m, Ph-ac, Rhus-t, Ruta, Sabin, Thul-c, and many more, that can be used with the guidance of a Homeopath.

If you know of anyone suffering from the above mentioned symptoms and conventional medicine is not helping or you'd like to see if an alternative, safer form of treatment can help, please contact me or a local Homeopath and see if we can help.

The sooner you get help, the faster you will be able to enjoy your life to the fullest again.
